YARD OLYMPICS : ART EXHIBITION : SPOTTED BEAR SPIRITS : WHITEFISH
Mandy Mohler
I've never been notorious for my athletic prowess. However, what I lack in natural athletic skill I make up for in sheer tenacity and fierce competitiveness (usually against myself). I'm rarely the first to finish, but you can bet your bottom dollar you will meet me at the finish line.
This ambition has been around since my childhood and some of my fondest childhood memories involve indulgent fantasies of a future adult life as a professional athlete (HA!).
The freedom of summertime and the well-being brought on by large quantities of sunshine inspires me. The sun has always made me nostalgic of summer pasts and eager for the future. It has a way of infusing equal parts fun and potential.
During my childhood, this potent cocktail of ambition and nostalgia led to fierce, short-lived training. Training for my future life that I was sure to experience some day.
My imagined "future self" has yet to come. Still, I reflect fondly on that summer fueled optimism.
YARD OLYMPICS, my newest body of work, is A Nostalgic Celebration of Athletic Optimism.
It is also a celebration of summertime, vintage design and back-yard shenanigans.
Join me for a First Thursday Art Exhibition on August 4th from 5-8 PM.
I'll be at Spotted Bear Spirits enjoying summer inspired specialty cocktails! (you should too!)
